The Krishi Vigyan Kendra is a district level Farm Science Centre established by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi at Abohar, District Fazilka for speedy technology transfer to the farmer’s fields. The operational area of this Krishi Vigyan Kendra comes under the South – Western Punjab District Fazilka shares border with Haryana, Rajasthan and international border with Pakistan. There are three tehsils and five developmental blocks with 397 villages in Fazilka dist. The aim of Krishi Vigyan Kendra is to reduce the time lag between generation of technology at the research institutions and it’s transfer to the farmer’s field for increasing production, productivity and income from the agriculture and allied sectors on a sustained basis. This KVK is acting as resource institute for recent advances in agriculture. KVK tests the newly recommended and approved technology through On-Farm trials and through Frontline Demonstrations and other mass contact methods like Field days, Kisan Melas, Kisan Goshtis, special lectures.
